$100,000 Classroom Supply Grant Program

Kids Bowl Free and participating bowling centers are teaming up to help educators offset their growing out of pocket expenses. Kids Bowl Free has been working closely with teachers, school administrators and bowling centers over the past four summers to help provide a safe, fun activity for children while they are on summer break.
Many teachers have expressed their concern of budget cuts and the inability to have all of the teaching aids they need for their students to have the best learning environment possible. The Bowling To Teachers program is a small step to helping 400 teachers improve their learning experience for their students.

Fitness Quest – New Year

New Year’s Resolutions have never been my strong suit…in the past I have come up with one and then not always stuck to it. This year I am not making a new resolution, but I am reinforcing my commitment to pursue a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. I am more determined to stick to my Fitness Quest and really see changes in my fitness, energy and health levels. I had started the squats challenge in December to work up to doing 100 squats per day, but started late into the month. I did fairly well, bur came into a few road bumps with the hectic schedule of the holidays. I decided to restart the squats challenge yesterday with it being the 1st of the month – starting with 20 squats and adding 5 each day, by the 31st of the month I should be doing 100 per day. After this month, my goal will be to continue doing 50-100 squats per day. I have completed 2 days of the squat challenge – 20 yesterday and 25 today. I can certainly feel the burn in my legs – it’s a great feeling!!

I will be taking a hard look at what I am eating on a daily basis and working on making better choices. I want to make sure I am staying hydrated and watching my sugar intake when it comes to drink choices, as well, incorporating a lot more water back into my daily routine. I will be looking at adding other types of exercises into my daily routine, hoping to get back into using my rowing machine – one of my favorites. Hoping to get back to doing a couple of my fitness dvds workouts – Boston Ballet Company Workout and Belly Dancing.

Just over 5 months until my 35th birthday – working on my goal of being in much better shape by the time that comes!!

Fitness Quest – Update

So far so good with my Fitness Quest and my goal of incorporating working out back into my daily routine. I have been making a conscientious effort to remind myself to workout and not to slack off. Today I printed out a calendar for December & January so I can actually write in what I actually did for exercise that day. I also started keeping track of my measurements as of today, so that I can track my progress in that department. I figure the more I write things down, the more I will keep myself accountable to following through with my fitness efforts and will actually accomplish my goals.

Fitness Quest – Rebooted

I have not been good this past year at sticking to my Fitness Quest – my goal to get back in shape and be healthier in general. I have been fairly good at trying to watch what I eat and not overindulge in sweets and unhealthy snacks, but I have not been sticking to my quest of incorporating a fitness plan into my daily routine. So here it is, my Fitness Quest – Reboot! I think this is the 3rd attempt at getting my Fitness Quest started, but I am determined to start and stick with it. I figure starting before the New Year will give me a jump start on my New Year’s resolution. A friend of mine is on a fitness quest of her own, working towards the body she wants by 30. As I am a few years older, I have decided my goal is to be working towards the body I want by 35, which is about 7 months away at this point. I think that is a feasible goal if I start on a steady fitness routine at this point and work my way up towards my goal of losing weight, strengthening my muscles and toning my body. I am not looking to accomplish anything outrageous, but there are definitely areas where I need to trim the fat and strengthen the muscles that have been neglected over the years of having my 3 kids. Time to stop making excuses for not fitting in workouts and find ways to incorporate workouts into my daily life and make the time to do them. The excuse that I am too tired or I ran out of time is getting old. I know if I do workout, I will actually find I have more energy and will accomplish more things in my day. Working out and taking care of my health need to become more of a priority, rather than something that I will do when I have time, it’s time to make the time! I have joined a few different groups and pages on Facebook with friends, and they truly are inspiring to see what others are doing and accomplishing. We all are individuals and each of us have different goals for ourselves, but we can help to inspire one another to become the very best that we each can be, both inside and out.

The only cost if the shoes, if applicable at your bowling alley. Click on the link above to find a bowling alley near you that participates. The coupons for the week are emailed to you, just print out and bring the coupon for the appropriate day.
     *Love this! They also offer a family pass option for up to 4 adults for a small fee to be able to have 2 games a day for the summer as well.

Other great options are to check with your local library to see if they have Museum passes available.

Fitness Quest – Day 2

I almost skipped the rower today, was still feeling the workout a little bit from yesterday, but didn’t want to lose the momentum. Happy I decided I followed thru, as I did a little more than yesterday.

Rowing Machine:

238 calories burned
4.8 miles

Drank about 4 glasses of water yesterday, same today, going to have some more water now.
Is it better to schedule a day off of exercise, a day of rest? Or to just plan on exercising everyday? Don’t want to overdue it, but don’t want to lose the momentum either.

Fitness Quest – Re-boot

A number of weeks ago, I had attempted to start my Fitness Quest with little success at the follow through. Now that school is over and summer has officially started (on the calendar, anyway), I have finally found myself feeling a renewed sense of motivation to get started.

The past few weeks, my energy levels have been so low and my motivation was not there. Part of that is from lack of sleep; kids up at strange hours, which means broken sleep for me. Busy weeks and weekends with school, youth sports and family activities. Now that all the kids are home during the day, I am going to need my energy more than ever. To not only keep up with them, but to keep them entertained and from driving each other crazy all summer.

I am positive that if I start really concentrating on eating the right foods and working out that I will find I have more energy, will sleep better, and will feel better overall. I will also find myself better able to keep up with the kids, and probably have more patience to deal with them.

So, I am going to consider today my Fitness Quest – Re-boot. I am going to enter into this Quest with a renewed sense of motivation & determination to follow through and accomplish my goal to get back in shape.
